I feel such an urge to travel to Ferguson and lend help. How I wish I could arrange that. We are needed. This is the real shit.
when i was younger learning about the movements, i thought each time looked like everyone involved across the everywhere. now i see movements happen right while we are going about our everyday. movements happen while we are sleeping and taking a shower, while we are driving to work and kissing our family. but they do not happen when we are all doing those things.
Great points! I will only add that I don’t say this as some sort of anxious youngster. I was arrested in the USA’s first mass arrests, in 2003, dubbed one of the RNC 1800, sat in oily pens and the Tombs for days. I still get hassled crossing the border for it, and suffered nerve damage from the zip cuffs. I also covered the RNC1800 and was surrounded by charging cops, rolling tank vehicles and choppers. I know full well what it means to put your body on the line. I don’t think one needs to be at protests to be active and agree fully that it’s about how we live.
But I meant it: this is the real shit. It’s very important what’s happening right now. I’ve lived long enough to know when history is unfolding. I am a warrior, and welcome the struggle. When we see this kind of injustice, and resistance, we must be prepared to act.
